The Polong

Old piece for a conceptart.org challenge in 2009, themed : 'Newborn'. The Polong is a Malaysian folklore creature created by black magic practitioners from a murderer's blood. The blood is put into a bottle and dark incantations are cited to bring forth its existence. Crying sounds will be audible from the bottle, and the owner will then have to feed the Polong blood from his finger.

- unseen ghost/invisible/never seen before- doesn't have to make sense
- neither human nor demon, hence bits of animal parts, human parts, and plant parts
- crying sounds, hence tears
- bird noises, hence bird
- accompanied by a Pelesit, a cricket (abstract, by head) that burrows a hole into the victim, which the Polong would then enter.
